-My problem is simple. My family might be moving next year to a different country where
I was born. I can speak the language there but only very, very basic words since I was only a little girl when
we moved to Australia. Anyways I'm almost 16 and in year 10 thus will be doing my
high school certificate this year. I'm worried about all the important tests in year 12 and
11 I will have to do since I cannot write and read in this other language only speak and I
won't have time to learn the language too much of it while juggling school (I know people have done it
but It would be so hard to learn how to write essays in this language and read all the books
I will be assigned to read at school and I'm really worried about doing really badly on my
tests.)
I decided that my only option is to be homeschooled (Unless anyone here can suggest something else? I truly think I would fail in school.) My parents can't teach me, but I figured
I could teach myself. Is it possible to home school myself in English even though I will live
in a non English speaking country? Like is it allowed?
My problem with homeschooling is I hate being myself too much as I'm very social and get lonely :p
. i also
don鈥檛 want to miss my last two years of high school but I know that if I Go to school I would
do very badly.
Any insight on the situation?
I was considering going to school part time but I don鈥檛 know if that鈥檚 possible either! Can your family put you in a private school in your home country? If they can afford to do so, then know that many countries have British or American schools or International schools, which would suit your needs. Their language of instruction is English. The schooling system would be different from that of Australia (in the UK they do "A levels", in the US, you'd "graduate high school", etc.) But the instruction would be in English, which for you would be key.
Your parents would need to find out if homeschooling is allowed in your new country - is it legal. What sorts of homeschooling are allowed. You'd also want to find out if Australia offers any sort of distance learning or homeschooling programs for you to follow.
If your family can postpone this move until after you finish school, that'd be great. If they cannot, then they need to investigate your options. Talk to them about your concerns.
