-I am a 18 year old guy currently working on graduating from high school and I am finishing my senior year online. I have about 6 more weeks to complete 6 more classes online. I am currently living with my grandparents because I had moved out of living with my adoptive parents because I did not get along with them. I need to graduate get a job, a car, and then a apartment. Then move on and start getting my basic classes for college out of the way a nearby community college. When I was younger I had to take these little pills to help calm me down and concentrate but they stopped because they weren't sure if I needed them. My grandmother thinks I have ADHD and I'm almost begining to believe her but not quite yet. I can't seem to concentrate though and find myself surfing the web, playing game, social websites and online texting my friends by the time evening comes I haven't completed hardly anything. I then go usually go and hangout with my girlfriend and/or my friends until later at night. Then its back to morning again, I go to the gym then back to trying to complete my schooling unsuccessfully. I was hoping that maybe someone could help me with some motivation on how to getting this done and over with, how to concentrate and what to get me motivated. I have all the reasons in the world to get this done, because its my pass out into the world I just don't know why I can't focus. Thanks in advance I really appreciate it!I am in the same boat, kinda of.
I find myself on Facebook when I should be reading a book or working on math.
First thing I would do is to make an agenda of what you have to have done for the week. This could be something as simply writing down assignments in a planner or notebook. When you work on things, cross them off.
Tell yourself that you will get onto whatever site after you have your work done.
Online schooling is tough, I have been doing this for years, and I still struggle a bit.
You just have to tell yourself what to do, and that you need to work on school. You need to be more emotionally mature. Practice being emotionally mature which will help you realize your responsibility to get things done. Otherwise, maybe you need to finish up your schooling in a school instead of home!!
The surefire way to improve your concentration:
Imagine what a sad, ruined piece of work your life will be if you don't get motivated.
WORK ON SCHEDULING YOUR TIME BETTER
I totally understand. Most of my college classes are online as well and I was diagnosed as borderline ADHD too. I don't really like taking medication so after a ton of research I started taking a herbal supplement called Concentration Essentials. Its great because it helps improve my ability to pay attention and stay focused. I am able to manage my time more effectively and concentrate properly at the task at hand. Anyway, here's where I buy it: http://www.naturalwellbeing.com/products鈥?/a>
