-Hi everyone.
So I've been home schooled for the past three years, and I love it. For these three years, I've had plenty of chances to be social, since my home schooling program offered optional classes. However, next year the classes won't be available to me since I'm switching home schooling programs. What activities can I do to get out and be social? I've thought of things like sports, taking up a few classes in the community, etc. Is there anything else I can do? Help is appreciated greatly!Really search your local area because you never know what you might run into that is available.
Check your library for teen programs and groups.
Check with your city's arts & leisure services to see what kinds of groups and classes are offered at community centers.
Check the parks department
4H groups.
Look into botanic gardens, science centers, theaters, historic landmarks, museums, zoos, aquariums, etc. to see what kinds of things they might offer for teens.A lot of areas will have large home school groups that are specifically for socializing. My niece is in one and they often have field trips, go camping, etc, etc together. They have year books and the like as well, so you can see if your area has that.
Beyond that, the classes in the community often have special rates or times just for home schoolers. In the area that I live in, there are dance classes, art classes, even P.E. classes in the community specifically for home schoolers, along with sports teams and volunteer groups.
Anything you want! Get a job and socialize with coworkers (if you're old enough), join an organized sport, take community education classes, volunteer, join Girl or Boy scouts, join 4H, pretty much anything you can do as a student in any other school.
You can conduct quiz programs, and involve in sports activities. Other things like puzzle solving, and learning new languages like Spanish, French is good. You learn new interesting languages by this way. If interested you can get help from private tutors of www.tutorz.com for home-school activities and learning new languages.
This may or may not help, but I home school my daughter and we were working on a unique science experiment and now she is making a regular web show Called Orla's Ark and is always around others...kids her age, interviewing adults, not to mention she is able to travel at will and is always meeting new friends.
Good luck!
Do the Etiquette Factory program. This will give you lessons on how to act properly and confidently around other people.
Lets be real here.
